January 1 - December 1, 2005:
British Columbia 2005  Cross Country League

Intended to be fun event with a touch of competition suitable for all levels of pilots in both disciplines. Designed to reward those pilots that fly out and returns and triangles more than in previous competitions, and new comers to the sport.

All pilots, HG and PG, from anywhere in the province, compete in one division.

All pilots must be HPAC insured. Scoring will be on a handicap basis according to glider type and flying experience, so everyone has a chance of taking home the top prizes. There will be a total of 6 awards
up for grabs, as follows:

* First, Second, and Third place (by points)
* Best Placed Veteran
* Most Improved Newcomer
* Turkey Award

The basis for scoring is being updated, but will also be based on a handicap system for glider type (HG or PG), pilot experience, and a multiplier for type of flight (triangle, out and return, open distance).
Effective Rating Novice Intermediate Advance
Hours of Airtime 0 - 50 50 - 100 100+

No side of a triangular course may have a length of less than 28% of the total distance of the course.

Pilots flying out and return or triangle tasks must complete at least 50% of the final leg of their task in order to qualify for the multiplyer. Incomplete out and return or triangle tasks will receive straight line credit along the route flown, including turn points.

Final score for the year is made up of your best five nominated flights. The league will commence on 1st January and run through to 1st December of that year with a presentation of the awards at the Christmas party. Work is also being done to facilitate the online submission of flights.

Entry is now FREE, so submit your flights, you may be pleasantly surprised.
