Regional News: Mt. Seven,Golden
By Peter Bowle-Evans,
Golden Sites Officer

The HUGE news from Mt 7 is that yes, it happened, John McIsaac and Cathy Anne David have bought the Nicholson Landing Field property. Their mission statement, you might call it, is to secure the Nicholson LZ in perpetuity. It simply could not be better! They are planning improved breakdown area, washroom facilities, a lodge, campground and RV Park, and all in such a way as not to intrude at all on the 40 acre landing field. Very simply, most of these things are planned in what are presently wooded areas. It won't all happen at once, of course, but the improved breakdown area and the washroom facilities are on the agenda for this year. Eco Adventure Ranch is the concept, including trail rides around the woods and wetlands. They will enlarge on details in time. There is just the one little thing: with the full support of myself and the other resident local organisers, they are insistent that EVERYONE who lands in there WILL be a current member of the HPAC.

Improvements at Nicholson LZ need your help...Join the work party May 15 weekend.
A new larger Kiosk is scheduled to be raised at the Nicholson LZ on the weekend of May 15/04. This is part of the new developments that we will see at the Nicholson LZ since Cathy-Anne David and John McIsaac bought the land. A work party is being organized to get these improvements completed. Your help with the project would be appreciated. There is also spring clean up work to be done on the launch area. Bring tools (shovels, rakes, hammers, crowbars etc.) that can be used for this kind of work.

The exact times are being worked out but contact Gerry Delyea or Chris Etienne for further info. Call Chris at Tel: 250 - 344 -7606 or email: ichimama@msn.com

Exact schedules will be posted at http://www.flygolden.ca/news.htm as soon as they are "nailed down".

Bring your body and your wing- the road is open. Make a weekend out of it - a little work, a flight, a few beers and pride that you are helping Golden continue to be a great flying site.

For now, some PGs have been flying, and when the sun gets free, thermals are ripping. By the time you are reading this, the road to launch will probably be passable - but do check with us, and/or on the web site before coming out.

Wishing everyone an enjoyable and safe summer's flying.
