Regional News: Lumby Air Force
By Randy Rauck

Flying in Lumby has been great this spring. It all started on Good Friday and has gotten better every week.

Not many flyers out yet. Leo is back working on his Paraglider technique keeping it all exciting at the top!. I should have a good photo to follow showing one of his new bounce and swing launches.

Last week I had 3 awesome, 2 hr flights in my Blitz . The first one I had to core sink to get down. It gets cold around 7000 asl so I never went much higher. All 3 flights were blue thermal flights and the air was smooth in thermal lift between 500-1000 fpm. Excellent conditions for April.

The last part of the road to Coopers is being logged and widened by the local high school logging program. A camp site is now being developed on that stretch and the setup is being leveled out. The school is still waiting for the final approval to log the south launch. Once done a much better ontop landing zone will be created. The school is building more benches to give it more of a park like atmosphere.

Getting ready for the Nats in June.

The Hanger Dance and BBQ at the Landing Zone on our farm will be a meet windup on June 19th as the 12th is LumbyDaze complete with beer gardens carnival rides and Live music in the park.

I'm still looking for a flying partner to help develop the farm as an airpark and perhaps golf course.
